Narrow Victory
Team "LeBos" from Leknes Residential and Service Center won the competition with a total of 1458 km, ahead of Lyngen-Tråkket, which finished in second place with 1373 km. There was cycling almost every day during the two-week competition, involving both residents at the service center and those living at home who came by to cycle.
- We have many users here who really enjoy coming down to cycle, and we have been down here every day this week. They cycle many kilometers every day, says nursing assistant Unn Øvrevoll, employed at Leknes Residential and Service Center.
Volunteer Cycling Hosts
Vestvågøy Volunteer Center has provided volunteers responsible for the cycling activities. At times, there has been a queue for the bikes, and they have regularly purchased new bikes for the cycling room. They now have five bikes available for the elderly in the municipality to use.
Unn thinks the program is fantastic and notices the enthusiasm of the cyclists.
- They are having a great time. There is wonderful music and familiar videos they watch while cycling.
Beneficial Cycling
For cyclist Margareth Karlsen, the program has been important not only for the social aspect but also for maintaining her physical health.
- I have bad knees, and cycling has been very beneficial for me. I feel my knees have improved from the time I have spent cycling, she says,
- It is a fantastic program!
